Terms of Service

Last updated: 26 March 2026

About These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ANU (African Network UK), operated by Kydos Digital Ltd ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or using ANU in any way, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use ANU.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

1. Who Can Use ANU

You may use ANU if you:

  • Are aged 18 or over
  • Are able to enter into a legally binding contract under English law
  • Are not prohibited from using the platform under any applicable law
  • Agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy

You may not create an account on behalf of someone else without their explicit authorisation.

2. Account Registration

To use ANU you must register an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering
  • Keep your account information up to date
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Notify us immediately at legal@africannetwork.uk if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
  • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false or misleading information.

3. Account Types

ANU offers three account types:

User / Member — for individuals looking to discover African businesses, food, events, and communities.

Business Owner — for African-owned businesses in the UK looking to establish a presence on the platform. By registering as a business owner you confirm that you are authorised to represent that business.

Organisation — for churches, diaspora associations, cultural collectives, student societies, and community groups. Organisation accounts require approval from ANU before going live. By applying you confirm you are authorised to represent that organisation.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Free tier

ANU is free to register and use at a basic level. Free users have access to the platform's core discovery features with certain limitations as described on our pricing page.

Paid tiers

Certain features — including Communities, enhanced business tools, and cross-posting — require a paid subscription (Standard or Premium). Subscription prices are displayed on our pricing page at africannetwork.uk/pricing.

Billing

Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial months.

Price changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of any price increase. Continued use after the new price takes effect constitutes acceptance.

5. User Content

Your content

You retain ownership of all content you post on ANU — including posts, photos, videos, reviews, and messages ("User Content").

By posting content on ANU, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the ANU platform and in connection with promoting ANU. This licence ends when you delete your content or your account, except where your content has been shared by others.

Your responsibilities

You are solely responsible for all content you post. You confirm that:

  • You own the content or have the right to share it
  • Your content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
  • Your content complies with our Community Guidelines at africannetwork.uk/community-guidelines
  • Your content is accurate and not misleading

Prohibited content

You must not post content that:

  • Is illegal under English law or any applicable law
  • Is hateful, discriminatory, or promotes violence against any person or group
  • Harasses, bullies, or threatens any individual
  • Contains nudity, explicit sexual content, or graphic violence
  • Infringes copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights
  • Contains spam, unsolicited advertising, or malicious links
  • Misrepresents your identity or impersonates another person or organisation
  • Exploits or harms children in any way

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines, without notice.

6. Business Owner and Food Provider Terms

If you register as a business owner or food provider, you additionally agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about your business, products, and services
  • Only list businesses and services that you are legally authorised to offer in the UK
  • Comply with all applicable UK laws and regulations relevant to your business, including food safety regulations if you are a food provider
  • Not use ANU to offer illegal goods or services
  • Respond to customer enquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Not artificially manipulate your reviews or ratings

Food providers specifically: By listing food for sale on ANU you confirm that you comply with all applicable UK food hygiene and safety regulations. Kydos Digital Ltd accepts no liability for any food safety issues arising from transactions facilitated through ANU.

7. Reviews

ANU operates a verified review system. Reviews require the reviewer to upload a photo or video as proof of their experience.

By leaving a review you confirm that:

  • Your review reflects a genuine personal experience
  • You have purchased or used the product or service you are reviewing
  • Your review is accurate and honest

We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate these Terms or appear to be fraudulent. Business owners may report suspected fake reviews to support@africannetwork.uk.

8. Communities

Access to ANU Communities requires a paid subscription. By participating in Communities you agree to:

  • Follow our Community Guidelines at all times
  • Respect other members of your community
  • Not use Communities to promote your business or solicit sales (use the Business portal for that)
  • Accept that Community Managers and ANU administrators may moderate, remove, or restrict your access

We reserve the right to remove members from Communities or close Communities that violate our guidelines.

9. Direct Messages

ANU's direct messaging feature uses a permission-based model. Recipients must accept a message request before a conversation can begin. By using DMs you agree not to:

  • Send unsolicited promotional messages
  • Harass or intimidate other members
  • Share illegal content
  • Attempt to move transactions off-platform in ways that circumvent ANU's terms

10. Connected Social Media Accounts

If you connect your Instagram or Facebook account to ANU for cross-posting:

  • You authorise ANU to post content to those accounts on your behalf when you trigger a cross-post
  • You remain responsible for all content posted to your social media accounts through ANU
  • You must comply with Meta's Terms of Service and Community Standards
  • You can disconnect your accounts at any time from your settings
  • We are not responsible for any issues arising from Meta's platform, including changes to their API or policies

11. Intellectual Property

ANU's intellectual property

The ANU name, logo, brand, design, software, and all platform content created by us are the property of Kydos Digital Ltd and are protected by UK and international intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or use any of these without our written permission.

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform or other users' accounts
  • Introduce malware, viruses, or other malicious code
  • Scrape, harvest, or extract data from ANU without our written permission
  • Circumvent any technical measures we use to protect the platform
  • Use automated bots or scripts to interact with the platform
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent a ban or restriction

13. Suspension and Termination

By you

You may delete your account at any time from your settings. Upon deletion we will remove your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By us

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account without notice if you:

  • Violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines
  • Engage in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
  • Provide false information during registration
  • Repeatedly infringe third party intellectual property rights

We also reserve the right to suspend or shut down the platform entirely, with reasonable notice where possible.

14. Disclaimers

ANU is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

We are not responsible for:

  • The accuracy, quality, or legality of content posted by users or businesses

To the maximum extent permitted by English law, Kydos Digital Ltd shall not be liable for any:

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential losses
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill
  • Losses arising from your reliance on content posted by other users

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of ANU shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us in subscription fees in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £100, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

  • Your violation of any third party's rights

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will notify you by email or prominent notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of ANU after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

18. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of ANU shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you have a complaint about ANU, please contact us first at legal@africannetwork.uk and we will attempt to resolve it informally.
