Kydos Digital Ltd is the data controller for all personal data collected through the ANU platform.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal data when you use ANU — including our website at africannetwork.uk, our mobile applications, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform").

What Data We Collect

Data you provide directly

When you register and use ANU we collect:

• Account information — your name, email address, password (encrypted), and profile photo
• Profile information — your African country of origin, UK location, and any profile details you choose to add
• Business information — if you register as a business owner, your business name, description, category, location, contact details, and any products or services you list
• Organisation information — if you register as an organisation, your organisation name, type, description, and contact details
• Content you create — posts, photos, videos, reviews, event listings, menu items, community messages, and direct messages you send on the platform
• Payment information — if you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. We receive a payment confirmation and subscription status from Stripe.
• Connected social accounts — if you connect your Instagram or Facebook account to ANU, we store an access token provided by Meta to allow posting on your behalf. We do not store your social media passwords.
• Communications — if you contact us for support, we keep a record of that correspondence

Data collected automatically

When you use ANU we automatically collect:

• Device information — device type, operating system, browser type, and app version
• Usage data — pages and features you visit, how long you spend on them, and actions you take
• Location data — your approximate UK city or region, based on what you set in your profile. We do not track your precise GPS location unless you explicitly grant permission.
• Log data — IP address, timestamps, error logs

We do not sell your personal data. We share your data only in the following circumstances:

Service providers

We use trusted third-party services to operate ANU. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by data processing agreements:

• Supabase — database hosting and authentication (servers in the EU)
• Stripe — payment processing
• Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — when you connect your social accounts, Meta receives data necessary to authenticate and post on your behalf
• Cloudinary or equivalent — image and video storage
• Resend / Brevo — transactional email delivery
• OneSignal or equivalent — push notifications
• Vercel — web hosting

Legal requirements

We may disclose your data if required to do so by law, court order, or in response to a valid request from a law enforcement authority.

Business transfers

If Kydos Digital Ltd or the ANU platform is acquired or merged with another company, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

With your consent

We will share your data in any other circumstances only with your explicit consent.

Social Media Integration

If you choose to connect your Instagram or Facebook account to ANU:

• We receive an access token from Meta that allows ANU to post content on your behalf
• This token is stored securely and encrypted in our database
• We only post content when you explicitly trigger a cross-post action
• We do not access your private messages, contacts, or any data beyond what is necessary for posting
• You can disconnect your social accounts at any time from your ANU settings
• When you disconnect, we delete your access token immediately

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide our services.

• Account data — retained for the duration of your account plus 90 days after deletion
• Content (posts, reviews, photos) — deleted within 30 days of account deletion
• Payment records — retained for 7 years as required by UK tax law
• Support communications — retained for 2 years
• Access tokens for social accounts — deleted immediately upon disconnection

Your Rights Under UK GDPR

As a UK resident you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access — you can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
• Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
• Right to restriction — you can ask us to limit how we use your data
• Right to data portability — you can ask us to provide your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time

Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously. We implement the following measures:

• All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS
• Passwords are hashed using industry-standard encryption and never stored in plain text
• Access tokens for connected social accounts are encrypted at rest
• Access to our database is restricted to authorised personnel only
• We conduct regular security reviews of our platform

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we take every reasonable precaution, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the ICO, to protect your data to the same standard as required under UK GDPR.

The date at the top of this policy shows when it was last updated. Continued use of ANU after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
